Beyond Form: Expressing Art - DRAs March All-Media Abstract Show

This is an ALL-MEDIA abstract art show spotlighting painting. At the opening reception on Friday, March 4, 7-10 pm, the gallery will be buzzing with energy and color! Monochromatic simplicity, stillness, and restraint, will lend balance and white space.

Sublime or formal, monochromatic or colorful, we'll make art happen so you'll feel the emotion, movement, and meaning that artists express through art whatever the style!

The show will be at the Del Ray Artisans gallery at the Nicholas A. Colasanto Center, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are: Thursdays, 12 noon to 4 pm; Fridays, 12 noon to 9 pm; Saturdays, 10 am to 9 pm; and Sundays, 12 noon to 6 pm. The gallery is free, open to the public and handicap accessible.

(October 1, 2010, New York) New York City non profit organization Art For Progress will be hosting Critical Mass, a group art exhibition, on Friday, October 15th at the HeadQuarters Gallery in Tribeca, 385 Broadway, second floor. Curated by Natalie Kates (www.nataliekates.com), the exhibit asks “In these uncertain times does it seems the world is reaching a Critical Mass? What will be the tipping point for a new order or action to occur and will it be in the name of evolution or revolution?”
The 16-artist show consists of sculpture, painting, photography and digital art. Artists Without Borders explores diversity, interfaith harmony, love and peace through foreign-inspired artwork influenced by memories of distant lands, discovery of roots, and the reclamation of ancestral heritage by a diverse and eclectic group of international and local artists.

The show is conceptualized and curated by Fareeha Khawaja, a Pakistani American artist in Washington, D.C., whose vision is to develop a creative collective which spreads the message of peace and harmony through art and humanitarian efforts.
